Project Completed by Baade Harbour Geelong (BHA)
This Commonwealth Funded initiative was to provide accommodation for visiting Clinicians and Students to further enhance Mildura Base Hospital’s reputation as a teaching Hospital.
This project was designed for Ramsay Health (Mildura Base Hospital) and the Department of Health.
The project brief was for a 2 storey residential complex with 37 Units on a narrow site with private and shared courtyards, a multi-purpose room, laundry, and a car park for Clinicians and Students of Mildura Base Hospital. The project procurement methodology was by a Design and Construct tender process.
The architectural built form and material selection are modern in its design approach, creating a strong sense of identity. The units have been arranged in a series of clusters to create smaller, more intimate neighbourhoods that foster informal interactions between students.
Each unit features private and semi-private spaces that cater to the individual and smaller social groups, while shared communal spaces in the facility have been located centrally to foster a sense of community within the student group.
The design also has a strong focus on sustainability, with the use of energy and water efficiency systems, sustainable materials, and landscaping that considers the site’s biodiversity and natural features.
