“Their professionalism and attention to detail is a testament to their commitment to delivering what has been set out in the brief.” Anthony Banks, Padua College Principal
Baldasso Cortese has been working with Padua College over a number of years on multiple projects including the Senior Campus, the Whyte Senior Learning Centre and the Performing Arts Centre.
The Whyte Senior Learning Centre was the first project realised of the 2016 Padua College Mornington Campus Master Plan, and one of two senior learning centres that will eventually be developed on campus. This development was transformative, being the first to target consolidation of a dispersed campus, moving it from small, disparate classrooms to an integrated, contemporary, multi-storey facility.
The 3-storey building is entered on grade at two levels, taking advantage of a steep slope across the site. It also links back to the Administration via a bridge on the middle floor.
The campus was made more compact to reduce travel times with clear, legible pedestrian pathways created. Draining easements were transformed into landscaped boulevards and the introduction of plazas and courtyards created a public realm.
